Phelps Wound Healing Institute
Are you suffering with a wound that just doesn't seem to heal? Call the Wound Healing Institute.
The Wound Healing Institute is an outpatient wound care program dedicated solely to healing patients with difficult wounds. These wounds may be from diabetes, vascular problems, chronic infections or traumas.
Who actually treats my wound? The Wound Healing Institute staff
includes physicians, nurses and therapists highly skilled and experienced in
wound care for difficult wounds. These professionals have all undergone specialized
training to become Institute staff members. The Institute staff utilizes the
newest techniques in wound care and communicates with your primary care physician
regarding the care of your wound.
What should I expect on my first visit? At your first visit, your general medical health will be assessed by our physicians, nurses and technicians. Tests to determine the blood-flow to your wound site may also be performed. This information will help your wound care team prepare the best course of treatment for you.
What happens during treatment of my wound? Your wound care treatment may require regular follow-up visits to the Institute. Your healing progress will be closely monitored and assessed for possible changes to further speed your progress. If you need specialized treatment, your Institute doctor will select what is appropriate for you. Your primary physician will be kept informed of your wound care treatment and healing progress.
What do I have to do? You are the most important member of your wound care team. It is important that you keep your regularly scheduled appointments at the Wound Healing Institute, follow instructions carefully and ask questions if you're unsure.
Will my insurance cover wound care treatments? Many insurance companies will provide coverage for your treatment at the Institute. Check with your insurance plan or talk to the Institute's Program Director for more help. Please remember to bring your insurance card with you.
