Healthcare Exec Danial Blum Joins Phelps as Senior VP
Healthcare executive Daniel Blum of Chappaqua has been appointed senior vice
president at Phelps Memorial Hospital Center. In this capacity, he reports to
Phelps President and CEO Keith Safian and is responsible for physician practices,
strategic planning and ancillary services. Prior to joining Phelps, Blum served
for five years as a senior vice president at White Plains Hospital Center, where
he was responsible for business and programmatic development.
Blum has been involved in the healthcare field since 1986, when he started out
as a paramedic, educator and EMS supervisor at several Manhattan hospitals.
He then moved up into management positions, serving as associate director of
emergency services at New York Downtown Hospital, evening administrator at Saint
Vincent's Hospital, and emergency manager at Phelps Hospital from 1998-2000.
From 2000-2004, Blum was vice president of operations for Stellaris Health Network,
the not-for-profit parent corporation for four Westchester community hospitals
(Lawrence Hospital Center, Northern Westchester Hospital, Phelps Memorial Hospital,
and White Plains Hospital Center) and several other subsidiaries.
Blum holds a bachelor's degree in philosophy and a master's degree in healthcare
administration, both from New York University. He is a member of the American
College of Healthcare Executives, a participant on the NYS Department of Health
Emergency Medical Council and chairman of Westchester Regional EMS Council.
