Phelps Appoints New Directors: Risk/Qualilty Management, Hyperbaric; and other MD staff appointments

Phelps Memorial Hospital Center announced the appointment of a new Director for Risk/Quality Management, the Medical Director of the hospital's newly created Hyperbaric Medicine Center, and the addition of two new surgeons to its medical staff.
Eileen E. Egan, R.N., J.D., was named Director of Risk/Quality Management. Prior to joining Phelps, Egan was an associate with the law firm of Feldman, Kleidman & Coffey, Fishkill, NY. She received her Law degree from the Pace University School of Law, White Plains, NY, and her nursing degree from the College of New Rochelle, New Rochelle, NY. She was a nurse at Phelps for 18 years before pursuing her law degree and career.
Owen J. O'Neill, MD, was named Medical Director of the newly created Hyperbaric Medicine Center, which will provide Hyperbaric Oxygen (HBO) Therapy whereby patients breathe pure oxygen while sitting inside a pressurized chamber. O'Neill received his medical degree from Universidad CETEC, Dominican Republic; and completed residencies in general surgery and internal medicine at New Rochelle Hospital Medical Center, New Rochelle, NY; and a Fellowship at the Westchester County Medical Center Burn Unit, Valhalla, NY. He also completed a National Certification Course in Undersea and Hyperbaric Medicine.
Corey F. Burak, MD, an orthopedic surgeon, who is the first to perform the
minimally invasive anterior approach to total hip replacement in the northeastern
United States, has joined the hospital's medical staff. Burak received his undergraduate
degree from Clark University, Worcester, MA; and his medical degree from the
SUNY Health Science Center and the Syracuse College of Medicine, Syracuse, NY.
He completed his internship in general surgery at St. Vincents Hospital and
Medical Center, NY, NY; and his orthopedic surgical residence at Tulane University
Hospital and Medical Center, New Orleans, LA. His fellowships include adult
reconstruction at Tulane and a fellowship in hip and knee arthroplasty at the
Dorr Arthritis Institute, Los Angeles, CA. Burak has newly joined Hudson Valley
Bone and Joint Surgeons, which has offices in Hawthorn and Yonkers.
Harry Zemon, MD, a general surgeon, brings the latest techniques in minimally
invasive cancer surgery to Phelps. Zemon received his undergraduate degree from
Yeshiva University, a pre-med Post- Baccalaureate from the University of Maryland,
College Park, MD, and his medical degree from the George Washington University
School of Medicine, Washington, DC, where he also completed his residency in
general surgery. Zemon completed fellowships in cancer immunobiology and oncologic
surgical at the Johns Hopkins University. He has newly joined the Hudson Valley
Surgical Group at Phelps Memorial Hosptial Center.
